HOOD (2022)
Regional, Play

Here, finally, is the real story of Robin Hood — a nobleman forced out of his home who seeks revenge not only for himself but against an unjust system. Five-time Tony®-nominated playwright Douglas Carter Beane reunites with Lewis Flinn to bring this hilarious new musical adventure to life at Asolo Rep. With some help from ace archer Marian (and, of course, a Merry Band of fellow rebels), Robin strives to outwit the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham and restore justice to the kingdom. Boldly reimagining an age-old story, Hood is a gleeful, raucous, contemporary musical about the power of hope in the face of injustice. This exuberant celebration is supported by the producing team behind Broadway’s smash-hit Hadestown, the epic award-winning play The Inheritance, and the acclaimed revival of Little Shop of Horrors. Hood is directed by Mark Brokaw, the celebrated director of the 2022 Tony-nominated revival of How I Learned to Drive, and choreographed by Ellenore Scott, whose work can also be seen in the current revivals of Funny Girl and Little Shop of Horrors.
